The Barnesville High School Class of 1960 did more than attend their reunion and enjoy reconnecting with their classmates. They also looked for a way to make a difference. Representatives of the Barnesville High School Reunion Committee, Class of 1960, consisting of Marjorie Jones, Tim Parkinson and Susan Hoover, presented a check of over $1,000 for their class gift to John Rataiczak and John Cheffy, Barnesville Hospital Emergency Department Campaign Co-Chairs. The class gift will be for the Emergency Department expansion and renovation project.
“I was delighted when Tim Parkinson contacted me to discuss designating their class gift towards the new Emergency Department project,” said Jan Chambers, Director of Development, Barnesville Hospital. “This is a wonderful gift. What is especially meaningful is the number of people who no longer live in Barnesville and yet generously supported their hometown.”
Barnesville Hospital’s new emergency department will provide patients with private rooms, a comfortable waiting area, and improved access to care. In the coming months a Fast Track/Urgent Care will be added for the convenience of area residents who require care for non-emergency conditions. The new Emergency Department will open in the fall of 2015.
“We hope our class gift may inspire others to support the new Emergency Department project,” said Tim Parkinson. “The new Emergency Department will benefit all area residents. We are pleased to be a part of it.”
A plaque will be placed on the new Emergency Department Donor Wall recognizing the generous gift of the Class of 1960.
