The Somerton United Methodist Church was damaged beyond repair during the storm on June 29, and has been torn down. The church lives on, and we have begun a fund raising drive to finance the rebuilding of the church at the same site. Bricks that have been salvaged during demolition are available for a donation. Jody and Dennis Wilcox have generously donated an antique quilt that we are selling tickets on for $1 each or six for $5. The drawing will be held Nov. 10. A cookbook is being compiled to be sold at a cost of $10 each. We welcome recipes from anyone who has attended our church, including those from families of members who have passed on. Also included in the cookbook will be memories of our beloved old red brick church building. A turkey dinner will be held at the Somerton Fire Hall on Sat., Nov. 10 from 4-7 p.m. Dinners are by donation. The drawing of the quilt will be held that evening and there will be a bake sale and sale of crafts that have been donated. Wreaths are being sold at a cost of $30.
