Elementary School hosts Family Literacy Night

Parents and students "read around the world" on March 19 at a Family Literacy Night, as part of Right to Read Week.

The event was held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Each family received a passport, survival bag and book at the door.

Countries to be explored included: China, Spain, Holland, Uganda, Ecuador, Ireland, France, Australia, Madagascar, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, England, Japan, Germany, Italy and the Bahamas.

Activities included displays, storytelling and games from around the world (taught to gym teacher Mrs. Crawford by students from Olney Friends Boarding School.)

When their passports were complete, families enjoyed an international treat provided by the high school culinary arts students. Other high school student groups involved in the event included the Key Club, Future Educators of America and the National Honor Society.
