Gravestone Guardians of Ohio tombstone restoration class Sept. 13th
The Gravestone Guardians of Ohio will be having a tombstone restoration class on September 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Salem Baptist Cemetery at 59907 Salem Rd., Salesville, OH in Guernsey County. The cost of the class is $30 per person. Topics covered will include: probing, cleaning, repair and discussion of total tombstone and cemetery restoration. Barn Quilts author to speak Sept. 17
Suzi Parron, author of Barn Quilts and the American Quilt Trail Movement, has spent the past year traveling the country speaking to quilt guilds and other groups about barn quilts and the many other painted quilts that make up the quilt trail.  Suzi will give her presentation on barn quilts at the September 17,2013 meeting of the Who Cooks For You Quilt Guild in Salesville, Ohio.
The talk will begin at 6 p.m. at the Salesville Church of Faith annex ( next to the church), 119 Locust St. Salesville.

Craft and food festival Sept. 28
The annual Fall Indoor-Outdoor Craft and Food Festival at St. Paul Lutheran Church (next to Wilson Funeral Home) will be held Saturday, September 28 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Outside vendors  are still being accepted. There will be over 50 vendors/crafters, chuck wagon with ribs and chicken on the lawn, kettle corn, DJ, soup and sandwich bar, free parking, Chinese auction. Hunter Education Course offered
The Bethesda Sportsmen’s Club will host a hunter education course on Saturday, September 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  This course is required for first time hunting license applicants and to obtain out of state licenses.  Class size is limited and pre-registration is required.  Register by calling 1-800-wildlife (1-800-945-3543) or on the web at  This class is free of charge and lunch will be provided by the club.

Belmont County Fair 3rd Annual Antique Tractor Display
If you have an antique tractor that you would love to share with us, please bring it to the Belmont County Fair Grounds anytime between Monday, Sept. 2 at 9 a.m. and Wed., Sept. 4 before 9 .am.

Belmont County Junior Fair Board livestock sale Sept. 5
2013 Livestock Sale will be held Thursday, September 5 at Belmont County Fairgrounds,  located at 45420 Roscoe Rd., St. Clairsville, Ohio  beginning at a NEW TIME of 1 p.m. for rabbits, turkeys, broilers, ducks, lambs and goats and 5 p.m. for hogs, market steers, dairy feeder calves and beef feeder calves.
Please enter through Gate 3 and use parking lot to left.

Stumptown Steam Threshers Reunion Sept. 7 -8
The 51st annual Stumptown Steam Threshers Reunion will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 8 at the club’s show grounds, located on Ohio 519, one mile west of New Athens, between US 22 and Ohio Rt. 9.  Featured are steam engines, threshing machine, shingle mill, flea market and antique farm tractors.  Food includes thresher burgers, fish tail sandwiches, lemonade, ice cream, soup beans and corn bread. Show admission is $3 per day per adult. Children under 12 will be admitted free with an adult.  Show information may be obtained by contacting club secretary, Gary Wellendorf, at 330-488-0301.  

Epworth Park Labor Day concert cancelled
The Epworth Park Cottage Owners Association is sad to announce that, due to unforeseen circumstances, our previously planned Labor Day Weekend concert that was to take place on Sunday, September 1st has been canceled.  We appreciate the communities’ support in the past and we expect to provide an ongoing schedule of free concerts in the future.   

St. Mary’s-Fulda Picnic Homecoming Sept. 2nd
St. Mary’s-Fulda Picnic Homecoming will be held on Monday, September 2, 2013.  It will begin with Mass at 9 a.m.  Dinners will be served fro 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.  Carry out dinners will be available.  A Corn hole Tournament will begin at 1 p.m., weather permitting.  There will be games, bingo, raffles and refreshments all afternoon with a Round and Square Dance from 4-7 p.m. with music by “Little Creek”.  The public is cordially invited.  St. Mary’s is located on County Rd. 15 in Fulda, Ohio, off SR 564, 6 miles east of Caldwell.  Signs will be posted.

WIC walk-in clinics in Bellaire
The Belmont County WIC Program will sponsor walk-in clinics every Thursday in Bellaire only.  The hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The Bellaire WIC office is located in the Chase Bank building on the 4th floor, Room 402.  New clients need to bring proof of address, proof of income, proof of pregnancy and identification for themselves and newborns.  Clients who need recertified will need proof of income and their WIC folders.  The WIC folders are needed for coupon pick-up also.  WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that encourages breast feeding and provides nutrition education to tis clients.  Women who are pregnant, breast feeding, infants, and children up to the age of 5 years old quality.  Working families are encouraged to apply.  For more information call 740-676-2232.

Vet Center Representative in Barnesville
Attention area military veterans: R. Jeremy Harrison, MSW, LICSW, Social Worker at the Wheeling Vet Center and Iraq War veteran, will be in Barnesville every Thursday from 9:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. at the Veteran Service Commission Office, located at 113 W. Main St. Services include individual, and group counseling for PTSD, substance abuse, depression, and various other readjustment issues endured by combat veterans. Jeremy also provides marital/family therapy, bereavement therapy, hospital referrals and enrollment, benefit questions, among other services.
