Helen Virginia Jarrett Stanford, 77, of Belmont, Ohio died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Barnesville Hospital. She was born March 6, 1932 in Bethesda, Ohio a daughter of the late Floyd Isaac Jarrett and Golda Fitzgerald Jarrett.
Helen was retired from Belmont County where she was instrumental in developing the county house numbering system. As a retiree she formed a volunteer organization in which she enlisted the help of people interested in restoring and maintain ing historical data for Belmont County. Helen was an avid genealogist and had been able to trace her family origin back to France. She also helped others with their quests of origin. She was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church of Bethesda, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Francis Stanford, and a sister, Ellen Goodson.
Surviving are a daughter, Bonita D. Cunningham of Troy, Pa.; sons, John D. (Sandra McKeen) Stanford of Belmont, James R. (Sundy Savakis) Stanford of Hartstown, Pa., Bruce Stanford of Belmont; a granddaughter, Jamie (Dustin) Arp of Beaver Creek, Ohio; grandsons, Jason R. Stanford of Marysville, Ohio, James (Amanda) Stanford of Phoenix, Ariz. and an infant great-granddaughter, Afton Nicole Arp.
Helen requested no visitation with services at the convenience of her family.
