The 7th Annual Brad Detling Memorial Ridge Runner Classic (BDMRRC) 5K Walk/Run will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Barnesville High School. Platinum Sponsors for this year's event are J-Mo Meats; William Knox, Certified Public Accountant; and Barnesville Community Foundation.

Pre-registration is available online at www.runsignup.com. Downloadable registration forms are also available at www.runsignup.com. Pre-registration is $20 and must be postmarked by August 12. Registration after August 12 and race day registration is $25. Race day registration is from 7 - 8 a.m. at the Barnesville High School gymnasium. The first 25 participants to sign up on race day will receive a BDMRRC insulated lunch cooler. The race begins at Barnesville High School at 8:30 a.m. The race route includes Shamrock Drive, Grange Hall Road, and ends at Barnesville Middle School.

In addition to the 5K run, The BDMRRC is unique in that it features two classifications of walkers, competitive and non-competitive. Those who walk competitively complete the entire 5K race course and are eligible to win awards. Those who are in the non-competitive category may walk as little or as much of the course as they wish (or walk on the high school track) and are ineligible for awards. All pre-registrants are guaranteed a race shirt. A limited number of shirts will be available for those registering late or registering on race day. A country store raffle, refreshments, and DJ entertainment will also be available.

Brad was a 1999 Barnesville High School graduate and a 2005 Ohio State University alumnus who lost a brave battle with cancer in 2008. All monies collected from the race goes toward an annual scholarship awarded qualified Barnesville High School senior(s) planning to continue their education at the collegiate level. A portion of the proceeds is also donated to cancer research via the Central Ohio Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
