Top-seeded Barnesville High punched its ticket to the OVAC Class 3A championship game by defeating The Linsly School, 6-4, Saturday night at Barnesville Memorial Park.
Coach DJ Butler's Shamrocks (15-5) will face Fort Frye for the conference title. Fort Frye trounced Tyler Consolidated, 16-0, in the other 3A semifinal.
It'll be a chance for the 'Rocks to avenge last year's eight-inning semifinal loss to the Cadets
Ater each team scored once in the first inning, Linsly worked its way to a 4-1 lead by scoring twice in the third and once in the top of the fourth.
Barnesville rallied with two in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the fifth to take the lead and then tacked on an insurance tally in the sixth.
Gaetan Sinisgalli played a key role for the 'Rocks, both at the plate and on the mound.
He delivered two run-scoring hits during Barnesville's comeback and also pitched the first five-plus innings to get the win, striking out eight and walking just one before giving way to Zach Thompson who picked up a save.
"We got down 4-1, but then we started chipping away like we've beendoing," said Coach Butler. "Gaetan's hits in the fourth and fifth were huge for us,"
"He didn't have his best stuff and had some trouble locating his pitches," Butler said of Sinisgalli, "but he battled and then Zach came in and did a nice job, too."
Joining Sinisgalli with two hits for BHS was Cade Hananhs, who also collected an RBI.
Gage Giovengo led Linsly (11-8) with a double, single and an RBI while Vic Giovengo, John Milton and Frank Favade each had two singles.
Linsly pitchers Favade and Warren Saunders combined for six strikeouts and four walks.
