BAYS spring soccer

practices begun

Barnesville Area Youth Soccer (BAYS) began its spring 2017 season with practices on April 9 at Barnesville High School field adjacent to the bus garage. Arrival time for players is 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoons.

The league will continue to accept new registrations during spring season for those who still want to jump on board, since sign-ups are good for fall also with no extra fees. Spring sessions end before Memorial Day for a summer break with first practices for fall to begin on the first Sunday after school starts.

Youth ages 4-13 are eligible to play with shin guards required and soccer ball recommended. Forms are available at Turks Trophy Shop and other locations. For more information, call 425-3343.

Tennis Leagues

at Barnesville Park

With the arrival of spring, the tennis nets are up at Barnesville Memorial Park and tennis leagues will start in May and run through July. There will be play for beginner, intermediate and advanced for men, women and children. Lessons will be available to sharpen your skills. A new event this year will be mixed doubles. The Newcomerstown Athletic Department is looking to fill the following coaching positions for the 2017-18 school year: head cross country coach and head golf coach. The River Greens Thursday Morning Ladies Fun Golf League will hold its kickoff breakfast at 9 a.m. on April 27 at River Greens Banquet Room. A practice round will follow. Regular league play begins Thursday, May 4. Tee time is 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. All ages and abilities are welcome.

MRC to Host

Indoor/Outdoor Triathlon

The Muskingum Recreation Center (MRC) will be hosting the third annual Indoor/ Outdoor Triathlon on Saturday April 29. The first wave will begin at 9:30 a.m. Participants will be swimming 10 minutes in the lap pool, cycling 30 minutes in the cycle room, and running a 5K outdoors. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in the various age brackets. The entry fee is $45 for a MRC member and $55 for a non-member. Registration opens Wednesday January 25 and runs until April 21. Interested participants can find more information about the triathlon on the MRC's website along with the form necessary for registering. RoundballSkills Camp

The Muskingum University men's basketball program is now accepting registrations for its Muskingum Roundball Overnight Skills Camp. The camp is scheduled June 25-28 and is open to any boy entering grades 4-12. The cost of the overnight camp is $295 and includes all meals and accommodations in newly air conditioned college dormitories or $200 for commuter campers. Cincinnati RedsLegends Clinic

The annual Cincinnati Reds Legends 3-day youth baseball and softball clinic will take place June 19-21 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. daily at the Vienna (WV) Recreation Sports Complex. The cost is $75 if signed up by June 1, with the deadline to register June 12.
