The Harlem Wizards are coming to Belmont County, Tuesday, April 4 for a 6:30 p.m. game at the Ohio University Eastern Health & Physical Education Center. This evening promises to be a fun-filled event for kids and adults and will guarantee to put a smile on your face! The Wizards are being brought to the area thanks to the Rotary Clubs of Belmont County. This collaborative effort represents "Rotarians at Work" from clubs in Barnesville, Bethesda-Belmont-Morristown, Bridgeport, St. Clairsville Noon and St. Clairsville Sunrise. The collective approach is of great value not only to the nearly 200 Rotarians who serve Belmont County communities, but also demonstrates the importance of cooperation and community spirit.

This is the second year the Rotary Clubs of Belmont County have hosted the Harlem Wizards. Last year's inaugural event was a great success and drew a crowd of 1,200. Thus, $10,000 was raised and used to support club projects throughout the county.

"This was a great opportunity for our local clubs to partner once again and host a wonderful evening of entertainment for the communities we serve. Rotarians are invested in the community and the Rotarians involved in the planning of this project embraced the challenge to make a difference through the Harlem Wizards. It is a true collaboration when you consider the support extended by the clubs, involved schools and partners like OUE, the Sleep Inn and Lamar," said Jess Puglisi-Sanders, project coordinator and member of the St. Clairsville Sunrise Rotary.

The Wizards are facing a formidable opposing team, the Belmont County Basketballers. This all-star team is stacked with talent from teachers, coaches and administrators of schools served by each participating Rotary. Community members and friends of Rotary will complete the 20-person roster and fill game roles such as referee and scorekeeper.

Team members from Barnesville will include: Natasha Shilling, Barnesville High School guidance counselor; Blake Allen, BHS teacher and assistant football coach; Micah Fuchs, BHS principal and Clint Abbott, Barnesville Elementary principal.

The Harlem Wizards have a unique mission: create awe-inspiring events throughout the country. At a Wizards game, fans will witness amazing basketball talent combined with hilarious comedy. It's two hours of family time where parents, grandparents, and kids can all laugh together. When you're in the stands, you are more than a spectator; you are part of the show! Throughout the game, fans will experience a magical display of tricks, coordinated ball handling, fancy passing and aerodynamic athleticism combined with high-energy comedy and audience interaction. The experience can only be summed up in two words: Awe-Inspiring!

Proceeds from the game will be used to support projects that extend Rotary's mission of placing service above self. You can see Rotary in action through food drives, clean-up days, filling community needs and supporting a wide variety of local and international endeavors.

You won't want to miss this awe-inspiring opportunity -- join us on April 4!

All tickets for the event are just $10 and can be purchased by visiting or by contacting your favorite Belmont County Rotarian. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and tickets are also available at the door.
