BEALLSVILLE --Visiting Barnesville High jumped out to a 30-8 first quarter lead and never looked back in scoring an 88-35 victory over Beallsville in an OVAC boys' consolation game on Friday.

The win boosts Coach Chris Pack's squad to 5-17 heading into tournament play while Beallsville finishes the regular season at 4-18.

After its big first quarter, Barnesville kept the heat on and outscored Beallsville 26-3 in the second round for a commanding 56-11 halftime spread. An 18-5 third quarter extended the lead to 74-16 before the Blue Devils finally gained a 19-14 edge during the final eight minutes.

Aaron Marovich returned after missing significant time with a concussion and posted a "double-double" of 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the 'Rocks. Freshman phenom Luke Powell was right behind with 20 tallies, with Tate Dowler part of a three-headed monster with 19 markers. Hunter George chipped in 10.

Barnesville was 38-of-85 from the field and 8-of-12 at the free throw line with 45 rebounds and just four turnovers. In addition to Marovich's 10 boards, Barnesville got nine from Powell, six from Geroge and five from Drew Strous. George dished out four assists while Dowler and Kernen notched six and five steals, respectively.

Wyatt Brown paced Beallsville with 10 points, followed by Bryce Louden and Kolton Rush with eight apice.

The Blue Devils were just 12-of-42 on action shots and 5-of-6 at the charity stripe with 18 rebounds and nine miscues.

NEXT - Barnesville will now prepare for its Division III Sectional Tournament opener Friday at Hiland. Game time is 7 p.m.
