Meet and Greet planned for Coach Davis July 5th

Barnesville Baseball Parents’ ‘Racing for Rox’
The Barnesville Baseball Parents’ Organization will sponsor a night of “Racing for Rox” to benefit the Barnesville High baseball team on Saturday, March 15 at the Barnesville Elks Lodge. The event will start with dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a simulated horse racing in which the attendees can purchase a horse, name it and cheer it on. There will be 12 races available to purchase horses in advance as well as a final race where the attendees can own a horse in the last race of the night by purchasing the horse via auction. There will be “live calling” of all races with an experienced race caller, and people who do not have horses in the race can participate by placing bets on the horses. All proceeds from the event will be utilized to purchase new equipment as well as for other team expenses. Horses are on sale Feb. 12-26. Tickets for 34th Annual Toughman Contest on sale
Tickets for the 34th annual Budweiser Toughman Contest slated March 7-8 at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling are currently on sale. Ticket prices are $18.50 for general admission, $23.50 for reserved and $33 for VIP ringside (first four rows). Dowler Memorial Classic
The Belmont College Foundation will host the third annual Thomas R. Dowler Memorial Classic Golf Scramble on Monday, May 19 at Belmont Hills Country Club in St. Clairsville. Lunch and registration will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, with a shotgun start at noon. Team registration includes 18 holes of golf, a half a cart per person, lunch, all day drinks on the course and dinner. Prizes will be awarded for longest putt and longest drive, raffles will take place and there will be two chances to win a car with a hole-in-one. OVAC seeks venue photographs
The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference is looking for pictures to display in the OVAC Sports Museum located in WesBanco Arena in Wheeling. In particular,  photos of venues that still exist or no longer exist are requested: football stadiums, basketball courts, baseball/softball fields, tracks, fieldhouses, high schools. Actual venue photos are preferred, but crowd photos or game photos showing the facility can also be submitted. Pictures will be enlarged to a 20x24 photo and displayed in the museum and the original photo will be returned to the owner. Mandatory OHSAA preseason meeting March 10th at high school
Barnesville Schools will be hosting a mandatory preseason OHSAA meeting for all spring athletes and parents in grade 9-12 on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school multi-use room.
Attendance at this meeting is “MANDATORY” for parents and students who plan to participate in winter sports.  An informational DVD produced by the OHSAA will be shown.  If you attended either the fall or winter meeting you are not required to attend.

Softball/Baseball Tournaments
The Ohio Fury Softball program will hold both a Star Spangled Softball and Baseball Shootout July 4-6. The softball tournament is an ASA Eastern Qualifier and will be at KC Geiger Park in St. Marys, Ohio with 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U divisions. The baseball tournament will also be held at KC Geiger Park in St. Marys with 14U, 16U, 18U+/American Legion divisions.
