AKRON Miami Middletown erased a 45-40 halftime deficit behind the play of All-ORCC performers Brianne Thornton, Ashley Heard and Megan Costa to earn a hard fought 87-77 verdict over the Lady Panthers in the ORCC State Tournament semifinals. Thornton finished with 20 points, Hearn pulled down 19 rebounds and Costa added 17 points to carry the Thunderhawks. Beallsvilles Julie Bilyeu paced OUE with 20 points and eight rebounds. Shadysides Kelsey Holloway finished with 19 points and six rebounds. St. Johns Natalie Perzanowski added 12 points and five assists. Monroe Centrals Alex Kuhn scored 10 points and added three assists. Reigning two-time state champion OUE finished the season with an overall record of 18-8. MUM improved to 21-6 and will face Miami Hamilton (23-3) in the finals on Sunday. Hamilton buried OU Lancaster 92-52 in their semifinal match.
