WOODSFIELD It was all Monroe Central on Friday as they reeled off 35 unanswered first half points en route to a 42-0 win over visiting Barnesville High, handing the Shamrocks their third straight defeat.
Chase Carothers got things going for the Noles early in the initial quarter breaking off a 44-yard jaunt to the house at the 9:40 mark and Josh Guiler added the point-after boot for a 7-0 Monroe Central lead.
The Seminoles then ran off 28 second quarter points, with quarterback Korey Lafferre scampering 50 yards for the first of his three rushing touchdowns just 16 seconds into the round.
Lafferre then picked up his second tally at the 10:26 mark on a nine-yard sprint.
Carothers then scored his second touchdown of the night on a one-yard plunge and Lafferre ran seven yards for his third TD of the game.
Guiler was true on each of the PAT attempts as the Seminoles took a 35-0 lead to the halftime intermission.
Mike Jones closed out the scoring for Monroe Central (5-3) by hauling in a seven-yard scoring aerial from Lafferre with 3:11 remaining in the third stanza to provide the 42-0 final.
Monroe Central rolled up 296 yards on the ground on 40 tries, while the Seminoles defense limited Barnesville to just 94 yards rushing on 31 attempts. The Shamrocks (4-4) picked up an additional 84 yards through the airways while the Noles had 23 yards of passing with one touchdown via the pass.
Lafferre led the Seminoles ground attack with 136 yards on 14 carries and the three scores, while Carothers added 111 yards on 12 attempts and Joey Schumacher tacked on 26 yards on just five carries.
Colten Pritchard was the main ground gainer for the Shamrocks, who lost three of four fumbles, with 42 yards on 15 totes. Sophomore QB Isaac McGee hit 3-of-12 passes for the Rocks for 34 yards and Kyle Yaquinta added a 3-of-8 effort for 39 yards but suffered one interception. Pritchard had two catches for 28 yards and Kyle McIntire had two grabs for 22 yards.
For Monroe Central, Lafferre completed 2-of-8 passes for 23 yards and the one passing touchdown, but suffered one pick. Brian Duffy had one of the catches for the Seminoles for 16 yards and Jones had the seven yard scoring catch.
