It is becoming a regular tradition here in town: for the last five years, runners and walkers have been lacing up their shoes to support the Ohio Valleys fastest-growing road race. The 6th Annual Rails-to-Trails 5k Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, May 19 at 8:30 a.m. at the historic Train Depot in Barnesville. The event features a fast course for the competitive participant, a flat course for the casual participant, and the areas only competitive dog-walking division. The race boasts of more trophies than most 5k events you can find anywhere (201!). Your odds of winning one are good.

The race has received a lot of support from community business leaders and features nearly 100 door prizes tons of food, a DJ, and of course, the Tunnel Fun Run for kids. Each childs race bag is stuffed with toys, certificates and coupons. Supplies for the Fun Run are limited to 100. All finishers win a trophy from Spike and Buck, the Wheeling Nailers mascots.
