Barnesville, Buckeye Trail compete in OVAC Softball TournamentBarnesville and Buckeye Trail were among the qualifying teams for the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Softball Tournament on Tuesday.Five games were scheduled Tuesday, with action at two sites.At the Chambers I-470 Complex in Elm Grove, W. Va., play began at 4 p.m. with a Class 2-A semifinal between Wheeling Central and top-seeded Steubenville Catholic. The other 2-A semifinal featuring Fort Frye against Barnesville was at 5:45 p.m. while at 7:30 p.m.Also on Tuesday was the two Class 3-A semifinals at John Marshall's field in Moundsville, W. Va. -- Martins Ferry against top-seeded Buckeye Trail at 5 p.m. and Magnolia against Edison at 6:45 p.m.The remaining semifinal games were held Wednesday at Elm Grove -- John Marshall against Indian Creek at 4 p.m. and Parkersburg South against top-seeded Wheeling Park at 5:45 p.m. in Class 4-A; and Toronto against top-seeded Weirton Madonna in Class 1-A at 7:30 p.m.The four championship games will be in Elm Grove on Saturday, with Class 3-A at 10:30 a.m.; Class 4-A at 12:15 p.m.; Class 1-A at 2:30 p.m.; and Class 2-A at 3:45 p.m.All four defending champions -- Parkersburg South (4-A), Edison (3-A), Fort Frye (2-A) and Cameron (1-A) are in the field.
