Barnesville wins season opener against Bellaire St. John BARNESVILLE -- Barnesville High opened the volleyball season Monday with a 3-1 win over visiting Bellaire St. John Central by scores of 25-14, 18-25, 25-11, 25-14. Paige Gibbon paced the Lady Shamrocks (1-0) with 18 points, including a pair of aces, while Jennifer Clouse was close behind with 15 points and two aces. Jessica Clary and Devvyn Yager added 10 points with two aces apiece. Gibbons also handed out 20 assists and collected 20 digs. Heidi Hines led the Lady Rocks at the net with 19 kills while Kati Hickenbottom added 12 stops and five blocks. Close chipped in nine digs, while Clary recorded 17 digs. The Lady Irish (0-1) were led in scoring by Kristin Russell with 18 points and three aces. Alexis Sharpe tacked on seven points with an ace, Andrea Timko added four points and two aces, while Ellie LeMasters scored two points with an ace. Timko also dished out 11 assists and Sharpe led the defense with 14 digs. Devan Carpenter added six digs and Jordan Nickerson recorded six. LeMasters also paced St. John Central at the net with 13 kills and six blocks and Lexi Ice had four stops.
