Shamrocks fall to Shadyside, 70-52

BARNESVILLE -- Unbeaten Shadyside High got all it wanted, and then some before finally holding off the Barnesville High Shamrocks for a 70-52 victory on Tuesday night.

"It would have been nice to call it a game at halftime," Barnesville coach

Chris Pack joked. "But they made us play four quarters, we played well tonight, just not quite good enough."

Barnesville vaulted out to a quick 17-5 lead after the opening quarter, before the Tigers responded with a 17-14 scoring advantage in the second quarter to trail 31-18 at the intermission.

In the third quarter, Shadyside flexed its muscle to roll up a 23-10 edge in points to grab the lead at 45-41 heading to the fourth period.

The Tigers extended their lead in the final stanza with a 25-11 scoring advantage to stay undefeated on the season.

"I'd like to look at tonight, from the positive side. It was better than a practice," Pack explained. "We got to play a real good team, and took it to them for some time. A lot of good things to take away from tonight's game."

Shadyside (21-0) was led by Dillon KImble with 17 points, while Nick Schuetz chipped in with 16, including a stellar 9-for-9 performance from the charity stripe and Justin Andes added 10 points.

Junior Bryson Stephen led Barnesville (11-10) with 16 points and seven rebounds, with senior Dalton Smith adding 14 points and four assists, while sophomore Preston Dornon added five points and handed out six assists.

"Tonight was a good workout for us," Pack added. "Hopefully we bring our 'A Game' on Saturday against Ridgewood."
