OUE Lady Panthers advance to state finals

The OU Eastern Panthers advanced to the Ohio Regional Campus State Finals with a hard fought 58-50 victory over stubborn Ohio State Newark.

The nip and tuck affair saw five lead changes in the first half until the Green and White finished the half on a 10-0 run to take a 30-20 lead at intermission.

The Panthers continued their run to start the second half and led 34-20 at the 18 minute mark. OSU Newark began to chip away at the lead and eventually tied the game at 42 all with eight minutes to play.

OUE took the lead for good as Natalie Perzanowski hit a wide open Allie

Doan for a 20 footer with 2:45 left in the game. Brittany Burch nailed seven of eight free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

OUE was led by Doan with 14 points and six boards. Burch contributed 12 points and five rebounds off the bench. Savannah Burke was a steady force with 12 points and eight rebounds.

OUE improved to 21-4 overall and 15-0 in the conference and advances to the state final to play Cincinatti Clermont 22-5, 14-1 which defeated Akron Wayne 72-46 in the other semi final.

OUE is the only conference team to defeat Cincinatti Clermont since 2007, having beaten them 65-63 in early December.
