Attempting a shot

A.J. Bohandy (12) attempts to get off a shot as Caldwell's Aaron Carpenter attempts to block his effort. Bohandy and teammate Dalton Smith each scored 18 points as the Shamrocks easily defeated the Caldwell Redskins 80-36.

The Redskins scored only five points in the first period and trailed 44-9 at the half.

Preston Dornon and Bryson Stephen also hit double for the Rocks, netting 15 and 14 points respectively.

Although Caldwell did not provide a stern test, there are choppy waters ahead. On Friday (Feb. 5) the Shamrocks will travel to Shadyside for their first encounter with the undefeated Tigers.

Barnesville's Preston Dornon attempts to penetrate the Monroe Central defense, here provided by the Seminole's C.J. Wise.

The Shamrocks trailed at the end of the first three quarters, but knotted the score at 40 with a minute and 45 seconds remaining and then outscored the invaders 9-2 in the closing minute, thanks in large part to the 'Rock's ability to hit their free throws.

Dornon was two for two from the charity stripe, A.J. Bohandy hit four out of four and big Tyler Fitzpatrick hit on four of six attempts, all in the fourth quarter.

Not all the calls went the Shamrock's way, as Fitzpatrick was the only Barnesville big man remaining on the floor at the end of the game, after teammates Bryson Stephen (6'5") and Christian Bailey (6'4") both were forced out of the game with five fouls.
