MORRISTOWN -- Cambridge High's cross country teams had a strong day Saturday at the Union Local Invitational, with the boys' team earning third-place and the girls' team taking fifth.
The boys were led by junior Daniel Mullen, whose time of 19:05 was good enough for fourth place individually. Behind Mullen were Noah Barr (ninth, 19:56); Jimmy Allen (15th, 21:19); Logan Kasinecz (17th 21:32); and J.T.
Good (19th, 21:40). The Bobcats put together a team score of 57.
The races was won by Josh Fitch of Union Local in a time of 17:27. Rounding out the top five were Kody Wilshire of Buckeye Local (18:51); Padgelek of Union Local (18:52); Cambridge's Mullen; and Corey Leisher from Buckeye Local (19:24).
Union Local won in the team standings with a score of 30, followed by Buckeye Local (49), Cambridge (49) and Indian Creek with 78.
In the girls' race, Cambridge freshman Alyssa Giesey finished 10th in 23:18.
Also scoring for the Lady 'Cats were Abbie Orr (17th, 24:07); Emilee Waddell (25th, 25:29); Tiffany Ingram (27th, 25:42); and Rachel Jamiel (28th, 25:2).
Indian Creek's Chelsea Furda took first individually in 21:27. Completing the top five were Tara Tollett of Shadyside (21:40); Sarah Kosky of St.
John's (21:47); Leah Figurski of Buckeye Local (21:56); and Brooke Meintel of Shadyside (21:58).
Buckeye Local won the team event with a score of 72, followed by Martins Ferry (77); Shadyside (90); Indian Creek (95); Cambridge (99); Union Local (113); and St. John's (115).
