Bel-Roe/OVGL Tournament Sept. 25
The Ohio Valley Golf League, one of the oldest high school golf leagues in Ohio, will celebrate its 30th year on Friday when the Bel-Roe/OVGL
Tournament takes place at Crooked Creek Golf Course near Morristown.
Charter schools of the league in 1980 were Barnesville, Beallsville, Martins Ferry, St. Clairsville, Bellaire St. John's and River, with Shadyside joining in 1990; Union Local in 1992; Monroe Central in 1996; Bellaire in 1997; Buckeye Trail in 2000; and Magnolia in 2004.
St. Clairsville has the most titles at 13, with seven runner-up finishes.
Beallsville won six times and Barnesville has taken the crown four times.
Last year's winner at Fairway River Links Golf Course near Rayland was Barnesville, with River as the runner-up. Justin Amos of the Shamrocks was the individual medalist with a a 70.
