Three local teams will be part of the field when the Ohio Valley Athletic

Conference baseball playoffs get under way on Tuesday.

Cambridge, Buckeye Trail and Barnesville all qualified for the OVAC playoffs

which begin Tuesday at the home field of the higher-seeded teams.

That means Cambridge earned the No. 1 seed in Class 4-A and will host No. 8

seed Brooke at Don Coss Stadium on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, Buckeye Trail and Barnesville will both be on the road for their

quarterfinals. Trail is the No. 6 seed in Class 2-A and will play at No. 3

seed Linsly while Barnesville is the No. 6 seed in Class 3-A and will play

at No. 3 seed St. Clairsville.

Heres a look at all of the quarterfinal matchups:

Class 4-A: Parkersburg South at Edison; Steubenville at John Marshall;

Buckeye Local at Wheeling Park; Brooke at Cambridge.

Class 3-A: Martins Ferry at Bellaire; Barnesville at St. Clairsville; Tyler

Consolidated at Union Local; Oak Glen at Magnolia.

Class 2-A: Wheeling Central at River; Buckeye Trail at Linsly; Shadyside at

Fort Frye; Frontier at Steubenville Catholic.

Class 1-A: Cameron at Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans; Valley at Paden City;

Bridgeport at Weirton Madonna; Bishop Donahue at Toronto.

The rain date for the quarterfinal games is Wednesday.

Semifinal action is slated Saturday at four sites, with Class 4-A at John

Marshall; Class 3-A at Harrison Central; Class 2-A at Toronto and Class 1-A

at Bridgeport.

The championship games will be at Steubenvilles Vaccaro Field on Saturday,

May 2, with the 3-A game at 11 a.m.; 2-A at 1:30 p.m.; 1-A at 4 p.m.; and

4-A at 6:30 p.m.
