Barnesville baseball team wins, loses double header
Barnesville High split a doubleheader with visiting Bellaire on Saturday, April 4 dropping game one, 12-8, before taking the nightcap, 6-0.
Bellaire led from the start in game one, rocking starter Clint Healey for three runs in the first inning on the way to a 12-8 victory. Jim Balsei hit a home run and a single for Bellaire (4-1) and Brandon Metz had a double, triple and three RBI.
Zane Wilson and Colby MacMillan led Barnesville (2-2) with two singles each.
Balsei also picked up the win in relief for Bellaire. In game two, Tyler Kurtz threw a seven-inning one-hitter for Barnesville, shutting down the previously productive Bellaire offense to hand them their first loss of the year.
Metz took the loss for Bellaire, giving up two runs and striking out four in four innings.
Kurtz helped his cause with a two RBI single to lead Barnesville.
