Rock swimmers travel from Moundsville to Dover

Between the ice, snow, and buses with frozen fuel lines, the Shamrock swimmers made their way to Moundsville to swim John Marshall and Parkersburgh South to Dover to participate in the Dover Invitational.

On Tuesday the team, went to the Four Seasons Pool in Moundsville. The team was several members short to weather conditions. The team placed third behind John Marshall and Parkersburgh South.

"Once again, our team was short of swimmers, but I was very pleased with the swimmers we were able to get down to Moundsville. I am starting to see better skills and the new swimmers are understanding the how a meet runs." Coach Johnson said.

Highlights of the John Marshall meet were:

*Bethany Clouse-1st in the 200, 2nd in the 500

*Shane Warner 1st in the 200 and 500

*Brandi Bahmer 1st in the 50 and 3rd in the100

*Hunter Yevincy- 1st in the butterfly and 2nd in the back

*Arick Swallie- 3rd in the 100 and 4th in the 50

*Julie Ramsey-swam her 1st 500 with a time of 8:47

*Andrea Shamhart-took 40 second off her 500 free with a time of 8:19

On Saturday, after discovering the buses were unable to transport the team, a devoted group of parents and swimmers traveled to Dover for the 9th Annual Dover Invitational. The girls placed 6th out of 10 teams; the boys placed 6th also out of 10 teams.

"We have been attending this invitational for 9 years and I think anytime you can swim again Dover you learn something," Johnson said.

Highlights of the meet were:

*Shane Warner placed 1st in the 200 and 2nd in the 100

*Brandi Bahmer placed 3rd in the 50 and 4th in the 100

The team will travel to Wheeling Park on Wednesday to swim the Wheeling Park Patriots. This will also be Senior Night for the team. On Saturday, the team will go to Zanesville for the West Muskingum Invitational.
