Changes abound on local high school football schedules

Don't look now but its just a little over two months until the 2017 high school football season kicks off! With that in mind, it's time to take a look at the local teams with plenty of new faces on the schedules.

Tennis Leagues at Barnesville Park With the arrival of spring, the tennis nets are up at Barnesville Memorial Park and tennis leagues will run through July. There will be play for beginner, intermediate and advanced for men, women and children.

Eastern District Track Cross Country Coaches to induct initial Hall of Fame class on Wednesday

The Eastern District Track and Cross Country Coaches Association will induct the inaugural class of the Eastern District Track and Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place at Mr. Lee's Restaurant Banquet Hall on Wednesday, June 21 at 6 p.m..

OVAC Hall of Fame tickets on sale

Tickets for the 2017 OVAC Hall of Fame Banquet slated Saturday, Aug. 19 at WesBanco Area in Wheeling are currently on sale. Tickets are $30 each or $240 for a table of eight. There will be no tickets sold at the door.To order tickets, call the OVAC office at 740-391-2930.

Pupil Activity Validation seminar July 13 at BHS

The Barnesville High School Athletic Department, in conjunction with Tim Berger, will conduct a state certified pupil activity validation seminar before the fall season begins. The workshop will take place in the BHS multi-use room on Thursday, July 13 at 5:30 p.m. The cost of the workshop is $25.

West wins Eastern District Baseball All-Star game

CARROLLTON -- The West managed to hang three "crooked numbers" on the scoreboard while the East only tallied with "sticks", resulting in a 10-4 victory by the West in the annual Eastern District Baseball All-Star Game before a nice-sized crowd at Carrollton High's Field of Dreams Complex on Tuesday.

MASSILLON -- In day two action at the Division III regional track meet on Friday at Perry High School several local athletes were able to lock up spots in next weekend's Ohio High School Athletic Association Track Field Championships with top four finishes in the regional finals.
