Barnesville FD receives $10,000 grant for protective clothing

The Barnesville Fire Department has received a $10,000 grant for protective clothing from the State Fire Marshal's office. At the Monday, June 12 Barnesville Village Council meeting, Barnesville Fire Chief Bob Smith announced the grant and asked council to fund the additional $1,118.

Barnesville Village Council is offering a loan program to residents in an effort to replace deteriorated sidewalks. The program offers zero percent loans to replace the walks that travel parallel with Village streets and will include curbs and driveway aprons.

On April 29, members of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Kent State University came for the 12th year for their community farm work day at Marvin and Lisa Butler's farm to remember two of their fraternity brothers, Brandon Butler and Eric Citino, who were killed in a car accident on February 3, 2005.
