I want to address the following for the clarification of our readers:
Please be advised that The Barnesville Enterprise welcomes submissions. E-mail is the preferred method for submissions, however, we welcome submissions by fax at 425-2545, by mail at P.O. Box 30, or at our office during office hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday) or after office hours via the drop box in the front door. Please be advised that our e-mail address is enterprise@barnesville-enterprise.com. We receive hundreds of e-mails per day, so please ask for an e-mail receipt or reply e-mail, or confirm that we received your e-mail by calling the office at (740) 425-1912. We also have an aggressive spam filter, so please do not assume that we received your email.
Also, please be aware that the size of the paper (number of pages) is determined by the percentage of advertising, not the amount of content, and therefore may vary weekly. In addition, papers in the Dix Communications chain, including The Barnesville Enterprise, switched to a narrow web format in October of 2013. This means there is less room for news. Rarely do I have more space than content. Every week it is a struggle to include as much content as possible. This is where deadlines become important. The weekly deadline is each Friday at noon. Preference is given to submissions that meet the deadline.
Lastly, the office staff of The Enterprise consists of four people. Of those four, only myself covers stories and takes pictures. As the activity of the area increases in the spring, summer and fall, please be advised that I require some prior notice for requests to cover events. In the event that I am not available due to a conflicting request (a situation that occurred recently) the only fair way I know to handle the situation, is on a “first come, first serve” basis. I do my best to handle requests, but some consideration for scheduling is appreciated.
Thank you for your understanding.
