The Summer Lunch Program committee would like to take this opportunity to express our thanks to all who were a part of this program this summer.
This year the Summer Lunch Program not only packed and distributed lunches in the village of Barnesville, but also in the village of Bethesda. Volunteers from Bethesda came each day and picked up the lunches to be distributed at three locations within the village.
Volunteers from both Bethesda and Barnesville worked Monday through Friday of each week from June 3, 2013 through the week of August 12, 2013. These volunteers cooked, made sandwiches, packed and distributed approximately 8,500 lunches this year. This translates into approximately 170 per day. We want to thank each and every one of those volunteers who took time out of their busy schedules to help this undertaking.
We also want to thank each organization, church and individuals who contributed food and monetary gifts to make this program a success. We also want to thank the other churches within the communities, as we all worked together to spread God’s will.
We saw in this work this year, as in the previous year, many individuals and organizations working together in doing what we as Christians are charged by God to do: love each other and to take care of those who do not have as much as we have.
We, the committee, are looking forward to serving the communities with sack lunches in the upcoming years.
Again, thanks to all who helped.
