jeanealities - July 2011 KID FUN BILLY AND Nannies' eight kids have a playground all their own on Danny and Lora Wildes' Sandy Ridge farm. The kids love the slides which the Wildes retrieved from Captina Creek. Just a couple of hops from a tire to an empty wooden wire spool and the kids are ready to make the big slide! #1 (Playground) THE KIDS are having a great time as their owners are getting them fit for the Belmont County Fair the first week in September. The Wildes' two daughters, 15-year old, Annika, and 10-ear old Addy will each take two goats and one calf to the fair where they will be judged on Tuesday and Wednesday and two animals will be in the Jr. Fair Livestock Sale on Thursday. Both girls are active in the Country Sunshiners 4-H Club of which Annika is president. ONE BILLY and 21 nannies produce a new family of goats each year. They're all Boers, meat goats. Goat meat is popular with certain Asian cultures. CUTLINES: #1 (Playground) #2 Addy is partial to her goat, Lily, which she bottle-fed as a baby. #3Annika watches over these kids as she continues raising, showing and selling goats as a 4-H project for many years. #4Next year Brady will be eligible to join 4-H and have an animal project to compete in the County Fair. In the meantime he's on an ATV riding all around the farm. jeanealities is compiled by Jean Palmer Davies, lifetime Barnesville Enterprise associate. She may be reached at jeandavies@comcast.net.
