Robert K. Spencer of Barnesville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at CAMC, Charleston, W.Va., at the age of 46. Born April 18, 1971 in Richwood, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Mansel Spencer and Helen Tinnel Spencer.

Rob was a 1989 graduate of Nicholas County High School and had spent all of his adult life running a multitude of heavy equipment. He was employed by 18 Karat, Inc., of Eighty Four, Pennsylvania, until complications following surgery forced him to retire in 2014. His choice piece of equipment was a Caterpillar Dozer. Rob loved and lived for what he did in his career; he carved out and left his finest mark throughout the many hills of West Virginia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. He left behind many great memories with all of his coworkers and will be deeply missed. Rob lives on through the donation of his organs.

Rob was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and later Dale Jr. He enjoyed cooking on the grill, canning pickles, going out to eat, and working together on his boys' cars. He loved to rough-house with the boys and it was always a toss-up whether things would escalate to get them all into hot water with 'mama.' Rob looked forward to traveling back to West Virginia to visit his daughters and family. He most loved spending time with his grandchildren; whether it was at a park, the zoo, the many trips to COSI, or simply cuddled up with them on the couch at home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant brothers, Kevin, Mansel, and Lee.

Rob is survived by his wife, Susan Whitacre Spencer of Barnesville; daughters, Karissa (Richard) Lewis and Kassandra Spencer all of Summersville, W.Va.; step-sons, Shawn (Polly) Whitacre of Urbana, Ohio, Ryan Carpenter of Indian Land, S.C., Tyler Carpenter of Baytown, Texas, and Jacob Carpenter of Barnesville; grandsons, Bentley and Jaxon Lewis of Summersville, W.Va, Austin Berry of South Jordan, Utah, and Sominic Whitacre of Urbana; special nieces (granddaughters) Alexis Wade (knucklehead) and Bristol Whitacre (Papaw's girl); siblings, Kimberly (John) Westfall of Birch River, W.Va., Katherine (Ken) Scott of Mt. Lookout, W.Va., and Christopher (Felisha) Spencer of Summersville; several nieces and nephews; and his four legged daughter, Molly.

Honoring Rob's wishes, interment took place at Union Cemetery, Morristown, Ohio.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 4 p.m., with Reverend Tom Detling officiating, at Bethesda United Methodist Church, 233 N. Main St., Bethesda, OH..
