Paula Jo Barbe, 61, of Bethesda, Ohio, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born in Bellaire, Ohio to Lois Fankhauser and the late Elwood Fankhauser on October 14, 1955.
She was a graduate of Union Local High School, received her BS in Speech Pathology from Ohio University, and her Master's Degree from Mary Grove University. Paula retired from Union Local Schools in 2010 where she taught for 30 years as a speech therapy teacher. She enjoyed farm life and spending time with her grandchildren.
Paula is survived by her husband, Terry Barbe of Bethesda, Ohio; daughters, Jennifer (Ryan) Schumacher of Barnesville, Ohio, Cassie Coates of Bethesda, Ohio, adopted daughter, Vickie Johnston of St. Clairsville, Ohio; mother, Lois Fankhauser of Jacobsburg, Ohio; brothers, Gary Fankhauser of Jacobsburg, Ohio, Neal (Paula) Fankhauser of Bethesda, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Honoring Paula's wish, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Bethesda Christian Church. Minister Tim Snyder will officiate. Interment will be private and at the convenience of Paula's family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 100 W. Old Wilson Bridge Road, Suite 118, Worthington, Ohio 43085.
