William Clinton Teach Evans, age 85 of Byesville, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at his home after a year and a half battle with cancer. His family and friends were at his side.
He was born on January 6, 1927 in Barnesville, a son of the late Clinton Evans and Josephine (Brady) Evans.
William leaves his wife of 25 years, Sara Baxter Evans of the home; three sons, William J. Evans, Thomas P. Evans and Gerald M. Evans all of Cambridge; daughter, Brenda Kay Evans Rice of Masillon; sister, Janet Fisher of Barnesville; three step-sons, William G. McCracken Jr. of Sardis, Bradley J. McCracken of Louisiana and Scott McCracken Sr. of Byesville; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Katherine Ann Evans.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W. II and was Methodist by faith. He was a graduate of O.S.U. and worked as the Automotive instructor and transportation director at Cambridge High School. He was also transportation director and interm superintendent at Golden Rule School. He was a 32nd Degree member of Guernsey Lodge # 632 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge, the Aladdin Temple Shrine in Columbus and Ambassador, the Kambri Shrine Club in Cambridge, a Life Member of VFW Post 2901, and American Legion Barnesville Post 168, a Life Member of the BPOE Elks 448, member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association and the Kentucky Colonel and a former member of the Cambridge Country Club.
After retiring, he enjoyed working part time at the Park and Shop in Cambridge. He was an avid golfer with a great sense of humor and was a friend to all.
