Catherine Elizabeth Quick Mayo, 86, formerly of Belmont passed away peacefully on December 13, 2012 at Emerald Pointe in Barnesville, Ohio. She was born in Schuyler, VA on September 14, 1926 to the late Ruth E. Brown Butler and Zay P. Quick.
A Christian by faith, she was a loving mother, grandmother and dear friend who will be remembered for her loving nature, gentle laugh and beautiful smile. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merritt H. Mayo and son-in-law, Terry L. Secrest.
She is survived by her children: Frank H. (Nancy) Mayo of Bethesda, M. Elizabeth “Beth” Mayo (Dennis Hunkler) Secrest of Barnesville and Charles H. (Jeanette) Mayo of New Martinsville, WV; grandchildren: Wendy Secrest (Corey) Stephens, Kory (Allie Patterson) Mayo, Casey (Erin) Mayo and Amanda Mayo; and great-grandchildren: Layne McGee, Rylee Stephens and Casin Mayo.
Catherine donated her body to the West Virginia University School of Medicine Human Gift Registry Program. In accordance with Catherine’s wishes, there will be a private service at the convenience of the family with a dear friend of the family Pastor James “Jimmy” Lee officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the MS Association of America or to Hospice of Guernsey County.
