Virgil C. “Sonny” Grey

1931-2012

Virgil C. “Sonny” Grey, 80, of Chula Vista, California, passed away January 29, 2012 at the Veterans Home of Chula Vista. He was born October 1, 1931 in Barnesville, Ohio, son of the late James Virgil Grey and Vera E. Gibbons Grey.

Know by family and friends as “Sonny”, he was cheerful, generous, hard-working and eager to help others. He loved fishing with his friends. He had been employed as a mechanic at East End Garage and also worked in building maintenance at Jonathan Logan and Barnesville Hospital.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Grooms Grey; two infant children, David and Mary; two sisters, Jean Wilson and Sheila Hoskinson; and a half-sister, Irene Cowgill.

He is survived by his daughter, Carole Blake of La Mesa, Calif.; grandson, Travis Blake of Lakeside, Calif.; granddaughter, Rachel Stanard of El Cajon, Calif.; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Stanard.

At the request of the family, services are private and interment will take place at Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda, Ohio.
