Mrs. Mary Maxine Stullenburger McFarland, 87, died April 5, 2011 at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness, Fla. Maxine is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Earl; her sons, Ron (Georgia), Tom (George), Dan (Michele); and daughter, Susan (Mark); 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; her brothers, Harold "Stoney" (Marge) and Dick (Louise) Stullenburger. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Harold T. Stullenburger and Mary Munson Stullenburger, and her brother, Jim. She is remembered with great fondness by a large extended family and many friends.
Maxine was born in Rayland, Ohio, October 30, 1923. Earl and Maxine moved to Florida in 1950 living in Cocoa for many years. She devoted her life to providing a happy home for her husband and children. About 25 years ago Earl and Maxine bought an abandoned1884 one-room brick schoolhouse in Belmont, Ohio and spent their summers converting the school into a special summer home, renewing old friendships and making many new friends in eastern Ohio. They were active in the Chestnut Level Christian Church in Belmont and the Ohio Genealogy Society Belmont County Chapter. They have lived in Inverness, Florida during the last 17 winters and were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness.
Memorial services and burial will be scheduled for a later date at Chestnut Level Christian Church. Chas E. Davis Funeral Home of Inverness, Fla. (352-726-8323) is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be sent to a favorite charity.
