Blanchard J. Carpenter, 87, of Barnesville, Ohio, died Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Barnesville Health Care Center. He was born March 9, 1922 near Batesville, a son of the late Daniel and Mary Kuhn Carpenter.
Blanchard was the retired owner of the Carpenters Sunoco of Barnesville, a lifelong farmer. He was a Catholic by faith. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was a member of the Barnesville American Legion and Barnesville Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy Carpenter, a half-sister, Lou Parr and two half-brothers, Paul and Robert Bischof.
Surviving, are his wife, Myrtle Belle Kemp Carpenter; sons: Rodney ( Susan) Carpenter of Dayton; Ray (Nancy) Carpenter of Morristown and Ronald Carpenter of the home; grandchildren: Brian Carpenter of Glenford; Sherry Parnell of Grand Rapids, Montana and Tristan Carpenter of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother Lawrence (Catherine) Carpenter also of Barnesville.
Friends were received Monday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. until time of services at 8 p.m. at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, 702 E. Main St., Barnesville. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda.
