Willis Yarnall, 79, of Somerton, Ohio, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Woodsfield Nursing & Rehab Center. He was born August 22, 1929 near New Castle (Wayne Township) son of the late Harold and Lillie (Perkins) Yarnall.
Willis was a member of the Somerton Church of Christ, an Army Veteran of the Korean War, Board Member of the Switzerland of Ohio Water Dist., and Board Member of the Somerton Cemetery Assoc. He was a member of the Somerton Fire Dept. for 50 years, of which he served as EMT (16 years) and Fire Chief (1973 to 1979). He was retired manager of Monroe Auto Parts of Woodsfield for 28 years and a member of the Monroe Miserable Misfits Camping Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Patsy (Froehlich) Yarnall; sons, Bruce Yarnall of Washington, D.C., Brian (Carla) Yarnall of Barnesville and Brent (Robin) Yarnall of Zanesville; daughter, Brenda (Michael) Baker of Massillon; sister, Mary (Vernon) Roop of Florida; brother, Marvin (Donna) Yarnall of Louisville, Ohio; grandchildren, Tony, Christian, Bailey and Duncan Yarnall, Taylor, Kori and Clay Baker, and Jessica (Charles) Byers and great-grandson, Braxton Byers.
Visitation was Friday, April 17, with the service Saturday, April 18 at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N Chestnut St, Barnesville with Ev. Kim McFarland officiating. Burial follows in Somerton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Somerset Twp.
