CUMBERLAND -- Services will be 2 p.m. today (Sunday) at Buffalo Presbyterian Church, Cumberland, for Ruth Carr, 81, of Cumberland, who died Wednesday (Dec. 3, 2008) at Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center.The Rev. Jim Gibson will officiate. Burial will follow in Cumberland Cemetery.Calling hours were held Saturday at the Tom & Farus Funeral Home, Cumberland.She was born on Jan. 28, 1927, in Pittsburg, Kan., to the late Homer and Dessie Ireland Wisdom. Ruth retired after 30 years of service for the Patrons-Buckeye Mutual Insurance Co. in Cumberland, serving as the secretary. She was a member of the Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Cumberland, serving as an elder of the church. She was a 50-plus year member of the Guersney Chapter 211 Order of Eastern Star in Cambridge and the Red Hatters of Noble County. She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Susan (Dick) Bates of Cumberland; a son, Rocky Carr of McConnelsville; a brother Jess (Evelyn) Wisdom of New Concord; a sister, Naomi (Ed) Sharrock of West Chester, Pa.; four grandchildren, Michelle, Troy, Shawna, and Eric; six great-grandchildren, Erika, Abby, Tyler, Kendra, Mackenzie, and Eric; and a very special friend, Eddie Caldwell of Caldwell. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Otis Carr, who died Nov. 4, 1998; a son, Raymond Carr; a daughter, Teresa Carr; two brothers and two sisters. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at Tom & Farus Funeral Home, Cumberland. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Cumberland with the Rev.
