Christmas Business Window Decorating Contest set
They are asking all downtown businesses to dress up the town in the Christmas spirit by decorating their windows and doors. First, second and third places will be awarded based on the use of lighting, window display and door weathers/swags in a festive Christmas scheme. To be judged, all businesses must be decorated by Nov. 29 for the Village Tree Lighting. Luke Johnson and the Art Club will judge the windows.
Home Decorating Contest set
Avenues of Barnesville will be sponsoring a Home Decorating Contest for Christmas. Avenues’ gift certificates will be awarded to the first, second and third place homes ($7, $10 and $25). Judging will be based on a general Christmas theme appearance during both day time and night time. Homes do not have to be entered to be judged, however, to ensure your home is judged, call Avenues at 740-425-1453 to register your address. Decorations should be in place by Dec. 1 and winners will be announced Dec. 18.
Leaf pick up
The Street Department will once again pick up leaves that are bagged and left curbside by residents of the Village of Barnesville. The bags must be the biodegradable compostable paper bags. Plastic trash bags will not be accepted. Bags must contain leaves only and will be picked up as time allows. No specific schedule will be followed.
Class to meet
The class of 1959 will have its monthly meeting on Nov. 30 at 10 a.m. at Annie K's.
Blue Star Banner available
The Blue Star Banner is available to any Barnesville area family of a serviceman or servicewoman serving in any branch of the military, including the National Guard (active or reserve). A banner will be dedicated to the family and then placed in their window for the service member. For information or to have a ceremony, call 740-238-2137.
Coin club meets
The Barnesville Coin Club meets the third Sunday of every month, except December. The meetings are opo the public and are located at 229 E. Main St., Barnesville.
