The Trustees of the Barnesville Area Education Foundation held their regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 13. The office has been busy this summer with membership and raffle mailings. Also, plans are being made for turkey bingo in November.

In April, the scholarship committee selected four new recipients of the Zunick Scholarship, along with a new recipient of the Hootman Scholarship. Receiving the Zunick Scholarship award are: Kyle Hendershot, Abigail Starr, Isabella Trouten and Luke Menges. The alternate chosen was: Baylie MacMillan. Recipient of the Hootman Scholarship was Bryden Samuel Reynolds.

The Foundation has received a very generous donation from Waneta Murphy Woodard to be awarded to a student who will be pursing further education in the field of nursing/medical field. This grant was presented to Abby Briddell.

Teachers chosen by their peers to receive this years’ Teacher Recognition Award from the Foundation were: Laura VanFossen - Barnesville Elementary School, Brittany Stephens- Barnesville Middle School and Matt Hissom- Barnesville High School. Receiving this years’ Skinner-Bailey "Extra Mile Award" was Angie Pack, along with a one- time award going to Cindy Swallie. The Foundation would like to congratulate all of the winners.
