ST. CLAIRSVILLE — President Rusty Winland conducted the Belmont County Farm Bureau 2018 Annual Meeting of members on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at The Market at Ebbert Farms, St. Clairsville. At this meeting the members voted on proposed policies and selected Trustees for the Board of Trustees as well as Delegates to the Ohio Farm Bureau 2019 Annual Meeting. Speaker for the event was Dan Durheim, Associate VP Sponsor Relations at Nationwide.
Policy issues included oil and gas issues, wildlife issues, trespassing laws, animal welfare, invasive weeds and commodity pricing.
Again this year was the inclusion of several area sponsors with their displays. The approximate 200 plus people in attendance, which included Farm Bureau members and guests, were able to visit these displays prior to the meeting. All in attendance were eligible to receive one of the many door prizes given away during the evening. Gold Sponsors were Barnesville Hospital, Bickle Insurance Services, EQT Corporation, Kirke’s Homemade Ice Cream, and Milleson Insurance Agency. The Silver Sponsors were Belmont Mills, Belmont/Carson Petroleum, Heritage Co-op, Johnson Insurance Nationwide, Kuester Implement Company, Riesbeck’s Food Markets and Whiteside Chevrolet. Bronze Sponsors included Pines Edge Farms and WesBanco.
T.J. Jefferis was the recipient of the Glenna Cain Distinguished Service Award. He was recognized for his many years of dedication to Belmont County Farm Bureau serving as county president and delegate and being instrumental in the building of the county Farm Bureau office building.
Senior Organization Director Betsy Anderson said, "Farm Bureau depends on volunteers to accomplish our goals and policies. Belmont County is very blessed with dedicated people to serve on their Board of Trustees and as membership marketers."
