Farmer’s market to open
The Barnesville Farmer's market started it's 2018 season on June 23 from 8 a.m. until noon. The farmer's market will be held in the John Schradel pavilion at the Barnesville Depot. They are always looking for new people, especially with baked goods or produce. If you are interested, call Jane at 740-484-1519.
Special meeting set
The Village of Bethesda will be having a brief special meeting to discuss and approve a Fire Levy Resolution and to hire personnel on July 2 at 7:30 p.m.
BHS Class of 1958 to meet
The Barnesville High School Class of 1958 will sponsor an open house beginning at noon on Friday, July 13 at the New Life Hall. There is an option for an evening meal for $12. Ministerial Association meeting
The July meeting of the Barnesville Area Ministerial Association (BAMA) will take place, Wednesday, July 11 at 9 a.m. at the Stillwater Meeting House.
Class of 1965 to meet
The ladies of the Class of 1965 will have their monthly luncheons on Friday, July 6. They will meet at Schlepp’s Restaurant in Morristown at noon.
Public hearing set
The Village of Belmont will be holding a public budget hearing for the 2019 Budget on July 5 at 7 p.m. at the Belmont Gym.
Park district meeting
The Bethesda Park District will be moving its regular meeting to July 2 at 6 p.m. and there will be a budget hearing, for the 2019 Budget, prior to the meeting at the village municipal building.
Sidewalk sales set
The Chamber of Commerce Sidewalk Sales will be Saturday, Aug. 9 in the Village of Barnesville.
CBAR meeting set
The Concerned Barnesville Area Residents (CBAR) will have its meeting on Thursday, July 5. This grassroots environmental group meets monthly at the Library Annex, 611 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville. Join them at 6:30 p.m. for this meeting!
Chicken barbecue set
The Barnesville Area Chamber of Commerce will have a chicken barbecue dinner on Saturday, July 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Barnesville Memorial Park, Mothers Club Shelter. The meal includes half a chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, dessert and drink for $8 per meal. Pre-sale must be picked up by noon. Dinners will be available for eat-in or take-out. Pre-sale must be picked up by noon. Tickets are on sale now. Stop by the chamber office today to purchase your tickets. They are also in need of desserts for the fundraiser. Council meetings move
The Village of Bethesda regular meetings for July will be moved up one week to July 19 at 7:30 p.m.
Church changes worship hour
Pastor Mark Zimmer of the Somerton United Methodist Church has been appointed to also serve the Jerusalem United Methodist Church. Because of this, effective July 1, the Somerton United Methodist Church's worship hour will be 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday School for both adults and children will follow at 11:10 a.m. All are invited to join them.
Class of 1952 to have summer picnic
Class of 1952, Barnesville High School, will have a summer picnic on July 26. They welcome all classmates to attend.
Adult summer reading program set
"Libraries Rock" will be the theme at the Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library this summer. The adult reading program will run through July 24. Blue Star Banner available
The Blue Star Banner is available to any Barnesville area family of a serviceman or servicewoman serving in any branch of the military, including the National Guard (active or reserve). A banner will be dedicated to the family and then placed in their window for the service member. For information or to have a ceremony, call 740-238-2137.
Coin club meets
The Barnesville Coin Club meets the third Sunday of every month, except December. The meetings are open to the public and are located at 229 E. Main St., Barnesville.
