Farmer’s market to open
The Barnesville Farmer's market started it's 2018 season on June 23 from 8 a.m. until noon. The farmer's market will be held in the John Schradel pavilion at the Barnesville Depot. They are always looking for new people, especially with baked goods or produce. If you are interested, call Jane at 740-484-1519.
Sidewalk sales set
The Chamber of Commerce Sidewalk Sales will be Saturday, Aug. 9 in the Village of Barnesville.
Chicken barbecue set
The Barnesville Area Chamber of Commerce will have a chicken barbecue dinner on Saturday, July 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Barnesville Memorial Park, Mothers Club Shelter. The meal includes half a chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, dessert and drink for $8 per meal. Pre-sale must be picked up by noon. Dinners will be available for eat-in or take-out. Pre-sale must be picked up by noon. Tickets are on sale now. Stop by the chamber office today to purchase your tickets. They are also in need of desserts for the fundraiser. Class of 1959 to meet
The class of 1959 will have its monthly meeting on June 29 at 10 a.m. at Annie K's. Anyone who hasn't sent in their reservation can still do so.
Dance to benefit
There will be a dance to benefit 3 C Cancer Group and others on Friday, June 29 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Former Grange, 980 Shamrock Drive, Barnesville, to STOMP OUT CANCER. The cost will be $5 and is sponsored by Dancin' 4 A Cause dance group. Everyone is welcome — bring a snack to share along with your favorite non-alcoholic beverage for a wonderful evening of fun and dancing to help others.
Council meetings move
The Village of Bethesda regular meetings for July will be moved up one week to July 19 at 7:30 p.m.
Church changes worship hour
Pastor Mark Zimmer of the Somerton United Methodist Church has been appointed to also serve the Jerusalem United Methodist Church. Because of this, effective July 1, the Somerton United Methodist Church's worship hour will be 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday School for both adults and children will follow at 11:10 a.m. All are invited to join them.
Belmont College board meeting set
Belmont College will have its monthly Board of Trustees meeting Thursday, June 28 in Monroe County at the First United Methodist Church in Woodsfield. The board workshop starts at 5 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
Class of 1952 to meet
Class of 1952, Barnesville High School, will have monthly luncheon at Annie K's Restaurant on Thursday, June 28 at Noon. Plans will be made for the summer picnic on July 26. They welcome all classmates to attend.
Adult summer reading program set
"Libraries Rock" will be the theme at the Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library this summer. The adult reading program will run through July 24. Blue Star Banner available
The Blue Star Banner is available to any Barnesville area family of a serviceman or servicewoman serving in any branch of the military, including the National Guard (active or reserve). A banner will be dedicated to the family and then placed in their window for the service member. For information or to have a ceremony, call 740-238-2137.
Coin club meets
The Barnesville Coin Club meets the third Sunday of every month, except December. The meetings are open to the public and are located at 229 E. Main St., Barnesville.
