BELMONT — Union Local High School held its tenth annual Baccalaureate Program on Thursday, May 25 in the ULMS Auditorium.

Participants in the program included the Bethesda Christian Church Praise band (Charley Copley, Bruce Muretisch, Alex Snyder and guest Andrew Thompson on drums).

Mr. Joel Davia (ULHS Principal) extended the Welcome. Several of the ULHS Fellowship of Christian Students read Scripture and offered prayer (Ty Kildow, Cody Ray, Braden Robinson, Lucas Donley, Ben Howell). Brian Pettit (ER Friends Ch) explained what the word "baccalaureate" means. The ULHS band Seniors performed two songs, including UL’s alma mater. Gary Smith (Trinity Gospel Fellowship) MC’d as the Grads introduced themselves and spoke of their future plans. Each Senior received a Bible and small gift and was eligible to receive one of two $500 scholarships to be awarded.

The two recipients were Melissa Butterworth and Ty Kildow. Tim Snyder (Bethesda Christian Church) addressed the students and families about ideals that would further the graduates’ lives if they would implement them daily. Andrew Thompson (Lloydsville and Belmont UMCs) lead the assembly in a responsive reading.

Refreshments and photos followed in the ULMS Lobby. We wish to thank the churches of the ULSD for their generosity to make this program and scholarships possible.
