Betty Jean Vale, 88, of Flushing, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018, at Park Health Center. Born April 29, 1930, in Cadiz, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Viola (Dunfee) Singer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Vale in 2016; sisters, Shirley Fisher and Dorothy Bethel; and brother-in-law, Jim Retzer.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Andrea Vale of Houston, Texas; son, Jeff Vale of Flushing; sisters, Leona Retzer and Beatrice (Emerson) Rarick all of Lancaster; and brothers-in-law, Richard Fisher of Mansfield and Carl Bethel of Old Washington.

She was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church, enjoyed craft shows, and crocheting afghans for any and all occasions. Having the ability to make anything grow with her green thumb, she was especially proud of growing African Violets with their beautiful and colorful petals. Betty’s most important and greatest calling was being a wife and mother, taking care of her family, and sharing her talent, as a tremendous cook and baker.

Services were Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the Patron Funeral Homes & Crematory, 322 N. Main St., Bethesda. Pastor Bob Merritt officiated. Interment followed at Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain.
