Members of Girl Scout Troop 5766 are winding down their activities, as they are members of the Barnesville High School Class of 2018. The troop proudly participated in the Memorial Day Parade last May and the scouts served at the Alumni Banquet and at Storybook Park. The members also helped with various community projects through their sports teams and organizational clubs at school. The troop was involved in the Fall Products Sale, Cookie Sale, and the Valentine’s Scented Wooden Roses Sale.
For twelve days in June 2017, the troop celebrated their years in Girl Scouting by travelling to London, Paris, Florence, and Rome. Four family members were able to join them for this educational tour. During their travels, they saw the landmarks of these historic cities and enjoyed the local culture. While in London, they visited Pax Lodge, a World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. Some other highlights included the Jack the Ripper Tour, a climb to the top of Mt. Vesuvius, and the witnessing the beauty of Capri.
The girls’ college plans include: Abby Briddell, Belmont University and Ohio University-Eastern; Taylor Szabo, The Ohio State University-Newark and Main Campus; Joanna Gallagher, Ohio University; Sarah Powell, Case Western Reserve University; Abby Starr, The Ohio State University, and Cara Singleton, Kent State University or University of Mount Union.
The troop would like to thank the First United Methodist Church, Barnesville Schools, our families, and the community for all the support given to us over the years. Many pictures of the troop’s projects and adventures are included in the display case at the Barnesville Hutton-Memorial library this month.
