Two new publications recently published by the Belmont County Tourism Council profiles many western Belmont County tourist sites and businesses.
The first, "Belmont County Ohio Tourism: 2018 Official Travel Guide" is a 32-page booklet, 7 ½" x 10", that is broken down by communities, scenic byways, parks, recreation, attractions, sightseeing, signature events, lodging and restaurants.
A great feature of the publication under sightseeing is the inclusion of quilt barns. For nature lovers, generous profiles of the Egypt Valley Wildlife Area, Dysert’s Woods and Barkcamp State Park are included and campgrounds and retreats are listed.
Of course, no Belmont County tourism publication would be complete without information the county’s two "Signature Events", the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival and Jamboree in the Hills.
The second publication specifically targets the history-buff crowd. "Guide to Historic Landmarks of Belmont County, Ohio", a 4 ¼" x 11", 28-page pamphlet profiles the following western Belmont County locations:
• Scenic Byways – Drovers’ Trail and Historic National Road
• Museums – Belmont County Military Veterans Museum/Belmont; Stillwater Meeting House/Barnesville; Underground Railroad Museum/Flushing; Watt Center for History and the Arts/Barnesville; Belmont County Victorian Mansion Museum/Barnesville
• Historic Landmarks – B & O Railroad Depot/Barnesville; Black Horse Inn/Morristown; Epworth Park Cottages/Bethesda
Copies of the publications are available at many locations in the area including grocery stores, libraries, Barnesville Antique Mall, and at the sites. Copies may also be picked up at the Belmont County Tourism Council offices at the Ohio Valley Mall.
Barb Ballint is the director of the promotional organization while former Barnesville Enterprise editor Cathryn Stanley is a member of the tourism council staff.
