WHEELING, W.Va. – A free informational session for those with hearing loss will be hosted by Wheeling Hospital’s Center for Audiology on March 3.

The public event will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in Conference Room C at the hospital. Refreshments will be available.

Dr. Brandon Lichtman, director of the Center for Audiology at Wheeling Hospital, said the session is targeting those with hearing loss as well as their family members.

"Recent research reveals hearing loss is associated with social withdrawal, and has the potential to increase the rate of age-related cognitive decline. It is important for patients to be educated and identified early," Lichtman said.

Topics will include:

How hearing loss is identified.

Causes, types and prevention.

Options for management of hearing loss.

A question and answer period will follow.

Space at the hearing loss informational session is limited, so reservations are requested. Call the Center for Audiology at 304-243-7879.
