A "ribbon cutting/open house" held Friday, Feb. 2 officially opened the Barnesville office of Shaheen Law Group, LLC located at 119 W. Main St.

"I am thrilled to open a new office in Barnesville. I look forward to the opportunity to better serve our clients in the Barnesville and Monroe County areas and to become part of such a tight-knit, caring community," says Michael J. Shaheen, owner of the firm.

Michael J. Shaheen, an eastern Ohio native, is a graduate of Duquesne University, Pittsburgh. He received his law degree from Capital University Law School in 1989. He is the son of Addie Bedway Shaheen and William J. Shaheen.

Michael began to build his law practice while assisting with the transition of the family-owned coal business. Bedway Coal Company was founded by his mother, Addie Bedway Shaheen, and her two brothers, Toni Bedway and John Bedway.

After working with and becoming a partner in a local firm, he established his own law practice in 1997 which is now known as Shaheen Law Group. Shaheen is currently a member of the Belmont County Board of Elections and Solicitor for the village of Bridgeport. Formerly, he served as Belmont County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, Chairman of the Ohio Liquor Control Commission, and Law Director for the villages of Adena and Bellaire.

The firm is a general practice law firm with each attorney focusing on various areas of concentration including family law, criminal law, juvenile law, corporate law, real estate, oil & gas, dispute resolutions and estates/wills/trusts.

In addition to Shaheen who has over 28 years of experience in the practice, other attorneys of the Shaheen Law Group are:

• Alaire Mancz is an Ohio Valley native who lived and practiced in Columbus before returning home in 2012 to practice law with the Shaheen Law Group.

• Kristina Herman is a native of Cincinnati and a graduate of Capital University Law School who also practiced in Columbus before relocating to the Tri-State area and joining the firm in 2016.

• Meagan Todaro Kirchner is a native of Massillon. She practiced in Ohio and West Virginia before settling in with the Shaheen Law Group in 2017.

Initially, office hours at the Barnesville office are Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and evenings are by appointment.
