Oberlin IGA, in Oberlin, Ohio, owned and operated by former area resident and longtime grocer Leo Braido, was named this week a Five Star IGA Retailer for 2017.
"One of my goals since I purchased the store in 2014 was to become a Five Star Retailer and this award is a tribute our entire team here at Oberlin IGA." said Leo Braido.
Five Star is the highest award level possible thru IGA INC and an unyielding commitment to provide the best possible food store shopping experience is the foundation on which the award is built.
"I learned early in my career in the grocery industry that to be the best one must understand they are in the people business selling food and that is what our store is all about," said Braido.
Also, a key to qualifying for Five Star is consistent execution of high quality operational standards including, but not limited to, food safety and store cleanliness.
"I’ve had the privilege of working in the food industry for over 30 years, but feel at home and happy to be here in Oberlin," Braido said.
As an active community member, Braido is an Oberlin Rotarian and a board member of Oberlin Community Services and Oberlin Business Partnership, and serves as treasurer for both. In addition, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Grocers Association and is past board chairman.
